The April 24 marriage preparation class is now full and we are only accepting registrations for the August class at this time.
With suggestion and guidance from the Diocese and approval from the Finance Council, we will be adding heat tape to the upper and lower roofs. This will run on the edge of the roof, in the gutters and in the downspouts. This will deplete an additional $20,000 from our savings but it will help prevent future ice build up on the roof. After this is completed, the roofers will be back to install the roof tiles. While this is great news, it will take time. The process will take several weeks to complete and will not be finished by Easter. Our patience will be rewarded with a newly repaired and upgraded roof!
The St. Joseph Christian Mothers will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 17 in Healy Hall following the 7:00 PM Mass and Novena. The guest for the evening will be Debra Myers who is certified in techniques of stress management. Prefects for the meeting will be Marge Marsilio and Rose Scappe.
On Thursday, March 18 at 7:00 PM, Rev. Scott Seethaler, O.F.M. Cap., will launch a new Young Adult Ministry program being piloted by the Diocesan Department for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. The program, called Pizza and Possibilities, invites young adults to gather together for pizza and to learn concrete ways they can share their gifts and talents in service to others. All young adults (18-40) are invited to gather at Sacred Heart Parish in Shadyside. The cost for the event is $5. To register, please contact Gary Slifkey at 412-456-3140.
Everyone is invited to join us on Saturday, March 20 at the 9:00 AM Mass as we celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph, the patron saint of our parish. Breakfast will be served in the school cafeteria following the Mass. Everyone is asked to bring non-perishable food items for the poor. The food will be collected in the cafeteria and placed on the St. Joseph’s Table.
Our next Pre-Baptism Class has been scheduled for Saturday, March 27. Please call Kathy at the Rectory to register.
Join us as we seek to imitate Christ and travel the Via Dolorosa (the Way of Suffering). Reservations are now being taken for our annual Seven Church Pilgrimage. Our pilgrimage will take us to St. James in Sewickley, Good Samaritan in Ambridge, St. John the Baptist in Baden, Our Lady of Peace in Conway, Our Lady of Fatima in Hopewell, SS Peter and Paul in Beaver, and St. John the Baptist in Monaca. There will be prayers from the Stations of the Cross prayed in each church. The bus will depart the parking lot immediately after the 6:30 PM Mass on Holy Thursday and return to St. Joseph Church following the pilgrimage. The cost is $5 per person. Please call Kathy at the Rectory to make a reservation.
Please remember to turn in your Easter flower envelopes in memory or honor of your loved ones by Monday, March 22. We will be creating a booklet of all those remembered which will be available at the Easter Masses. Please print the names clearly and please keep names to one short line. Thank you.
We have finally received word from the photo album company that the books will be shipped mid-March (an earlier shipment had to be sent back because of an error throughout the entire book). Check back to the web site for distribution information.
